Micacious Iron Oxide (MIO)

MICACIOUS IRON OXIDE is alkyd based Micaceous Iron Oxide which provides excellent resistance to atmospheric pollution, high humidity and mild chemical fume attack. It has excellent adhesion on steel. Suitable used for protection of interior and exterior steelwork where the main usages include bridges and general use in factories, metal railing and gates.

Product Usage

MICACIOUS IRON OXIDE suitable used as primer / topcoat on general Steel work. Topcoat with TOA Glipton may achieve the desired colour.

Application Details

Application methods: Brush, roller or air spray
Mixing Ratio (by volume): The paint is ready for use after thorough stirring. For conventional air spray, 30% thinning is recommended
Thinner / Cleaner: Turpentine
Dry to Touch: 20 to 30 minutes
Dry to Overcoat: 2 hours (maximum indefinite)
Spreading Rate: 9 – 10 m2 / Litre
Recommended Dry Film Thickness (dft) 12 – 15μ

Surface Preparation

Steel
Solvent wipe the surface to be painted with suitable degreasing agent to remove oil, grease or other contaminants such as ‘white rust / zinc salts’, etc.
Touch up the aged/spot rusted galvanized iron with TOA Rust Tech or cold galvanizing compound and ensure the surface is dry and clean before painting.
Ensure all steel surfaces are free from dirt, dust, oil, grease or other contaminants prior to application of following paints.
